BURDOCK

CATAGORY: Digestive System, Urinary/Glandular System

DESCRIPTION: Burdock is a common weed whose seeds are prickly burrs that cling tenaciously to clothing and socks. Native to Europe and Asia, the plant has become naturalized in all temperate parts of the world. Its name is a combination of French and English -- "bur" coming from the French bourre, and "dock" coming from the Old English reference to large leaves. It contains chromium, iron, magnesium, silicon and thiamine. In herbology, the dried, powdered root is used.
BUTCHER'S BROOM

DESCRIPTION: Butcherís Broom once used by butchers to clean their cutting boards, has a long history of use by people of many cultures. It is a member of the lily family, native to southern and western Europe and the southern U.S. In folk history the herb was taken to nutritionally support the circulatory system. Butcherís Broom contains important flavonoids (natural substances that strengthen capillary walls) such as rutin. The plant also contains glycolic acid, which is also found in parsley and juniper berries.

DESCRIPTION: Capsicum has been used for decades as a catalyst for other herbs. Because Capsicum stimulants circulation and enhances blood flow, it is considered food for the circulatory system, a common condiment to the diet. As a cardiovascular stimulant, Capsicum assists in lowering blood pressure and breaking down cholesterol buildup. The warming properties of Capsicum are useful for people suffering from poor circulation to the hands and feet and other related conditions. Capsicum has been used as a digestive aid to ease intestinal inflammation, stimulate protective mucus membranes of the stomach, and also relieve pain caused by ulcers. DESCRIPTION: Cascara Sagrada known as sacred bark, is one of natureís most popular herbs. Its popularity is no accident. As a nutritional support for the eliminative function, the bark has been used by cultures around the world, including the Native North Americans and American settlers. Spanish missionaries noticed its use among the natives and called it sacred; hence, the Spanish name. It was first marketed in 1877, and was later acknowledged and used by the medical profession
CATNIP

DESCRIPTION: (Catnep, Catmint) Catnip is a member of the mint family, and is best known for the bizarre behavioral effects it has on cats. Catnip does not cause any such behavior in humans and is particularly beneficial because of its excellent nutritional properties. Catnip is a good source of iron, selenium, potassium, manganese and chromium. Catnip also contains moderate amounts of other minerals and vitamins. Catnip has soothing and relaxing effect on the digestive system relieving diarrhea, flatulence, indigestion, upset stomach and headaches. Catnip contains antispasmodic properties that are ideal for treating abdominal and menstrual cramping, as well as chronic coughing. Excellent in reducing fevers, catnip is also good for alleviating sleeplessness and insomnia. Catnip's antibiotic and astringent properties are also beneficial for treating colds and bronchial infections.
